Bathroom Renovations Windsor

Bathroom renovations in Windsor, Berkshire — reworked layouts, honest material choices and craftsmanship you can still see ten years later. Full bathroom refurbishment, remodelling and refits across Windsor, Old Windsor, Eton and Datchet from a team with over 10 years in business.

Refresh, rework, transform

A calmer, cleverer version of the room you already have.

Plenty of bathrooms in Windsor homes were built for a very different way of living — cramped layouts, awkward storage, tired fittings, pipework that has been patched more than once. A well-planned bathroom renovation reshapes the room around how you actually use it: a proper walk-in shower where the bath never got used, twin basins for the morning rush, and tiling that finally makes the room feel calm rather than busy.

  • Over a decade renovating and refurbishing bathrooms in Windsor and Berkshire
  • Layout redesign for better flow and daylight
  • Plumbing alterations and fresh pipework handled by our own plumbers
  • Space-saving joinery, vanity units and clever storage
  • Modern sanitaryware paired with timeless materials
  • Fixed timeline and price — no drift, no surprises

Renovation, refurbishment or refit? What the terms actually mean

People use "bathroom renovation", "refurbishment", "remodelling" and "refit" fairly loosely, and in practice they describe two rather different pieces of work. It's worth knowing which one you actually need before you start collecting quotes.

A refresh-style refit keeps the existing layout. The suite, tiling and flooring are replaced like for like, pipework stays broadly where it is, and the room gets a new lease of life in around two weeks. It's the most cost-effective option when the layout already works and it's simply the finishes that have aged.

A full bathroom renovation strips the room back and reworks it. Fixtures move, waste and supply pipework is re-run, walls are prepared or re-boarded, wet areas are tanked, electrics and ventilation are upgraded and everything is retiled. It takes longer — typically three to four weeks — but it's the only way to fix a layout that has never really worked. If you're going that far, it's effectively a complete bathroom installation, and we'll quote it as one.

What a full bathroom renovation involves

A complete renovation starts with removing the old bathroom and taking it away, with the rest of the house protected on the way out. Then comes the part that decides how good the finished room will be: setting out the new layout, altering the pipework, running new hot, cold and waste services, forming falls where a shower or wet room needs them, and upgrading the electrics, lighting and extraction.

From there the room is built back up — walls prepared, wet zones fully tanked, floors levelled, underfloor heating laid where you've chosen it, tiles set out and fixed, then the bath, walk-in shower, WC, basin, vanity unit, taps, towel rail and mirrors fitted and tested. Finishing is where a renovation is judged: crisp silicone, sealed grout, a properly hung door, decorating made good and a room left clean.

Rethinking the layout? Bring in bathroom design first

The renovations that make the biggest difference are usually the ones where the layout changes — and layout changes deserve proper planning. Where the room needs re-planning rather than simply refreshing, our bathroom design service looks at the soil pipe, pipework, structure, doors and windows and puts forward realistic options before anything is committed to.

For a lot of homes around Windsor, Clewer and Dedworth that means challenging the original layout. A little-used bath might give way to a generous walk-in shower with a wall-hung WC beside it. A single basin might become a twin vanity unit that ends the morning bottleneck. Storage that was jammed on a shelf becomes joinery beneath the countertop.

Luxury bathroom renovation in Windsor

Larger houses around Oakley Green, Fifield, Dorney and Holyport often have bathrooms that were expensive when they were fitted but now feel dated. A luxury bathroom renovation brings those rooms up to a modern standard without losing their scale: a freestanding bath as the centrepiece, a walk-in shower with rainfall and handset, double vanities with proper storage, large-format porcelain or natural stone, premium brassware, feature lighting and underfloor heating.

A renovation is also your chance to specify materials that will still look right in ten years. We favour large-format porcelain for durability and calm, natural stone where its character earns its keep, engineered stone worktops that resist water and heat, and solid brassware in finishes — brushed brass, matt black, brushed nickel — that age gracefully.

Small bathroom renovations and family bathrooms

Small bathroom renovations are some of the most satisfying work we do. A compact room can gain a surprising amount from a wall-hung WC with a concealed cistern, a slim-profile shower tray or a level-access floor, a semi-recessed basin on a drawer vanity, a single large tile format carried across floor and walls, and a large mirror in the right position.

Family bathroom renovations have to be practical as much as smart: a bath that gets used, hard-wearing easy-clean surfaces, enough storage for a household, and a layout that copes with two people at once. Ensuite renovations often follow the same brief in miniature — see ensuite bathrooms for that side of the work.

What gets upgraded behind the surfaces

Behind the tiles we take the opportunity to upgrade what you'll never see: fresh first-fix pipework, correctly falling waste pipes, new isolation valves, a quiet ducted extractor fan, underfloor heating under stone and porcelain floors, and better hot-water performance where the layout benefits. Because we're plumbers as well as bathroom fitters, awkward pipe runs and pressure problems get solved properly rather than boxed in — see our general plumbing service.

Tiling is where a renovation shows most, and our approach is set out on the bathroom tiling page. Where a room is being reworked for level access or future-proofing, a fully tanked wet room is often the best answer. We carry out bathroom renovations and refurbishment across Windsor, Old Windsor, Eton, Eton Wick, Datchet, Wraysbury and Englefield Green.

The process

From first call to final walk-through.

  1. 01

    Consultation

We visit your home in Windsor or a nearby village, look at how the room is used, take accurate measurements and talk through what's working and what isn't.

  2. 02

    Design

You receive a considered layout with sanitaryware, tile and storage suggestions and, where it helps, a 3D visual so you can see the finished bathroom before it's built.

  3. 03

    Quotation

A fully itemised written quote covering labour, materials, timings and any preparation work — clear, transparent and fixed before we start.

  4. 04

    Installation

Your dedicated team fit the bathroom with dust sheets, daily clean-downs and clear communication throughout — usually two to three weeks on site.

  5. 05

    Final inspection

A detailed walk-through, snagging, aftercare guidance and a written workmanship guarantee — plus we're a phone call away for anything afterwards.

We had no idea what to do with our awkward family bathroom. The design stage sorted it — they came up with a layout we'd never have thought of, then the same team built it. Having one company do both meant nothing got lost along the way, and the finished room is exactly what was drawn.

Our bathroom hadn't been touched since the house was built. The renovation moved the shower, added a double vanity and the room now feels twice the size. Tidy, polite, on time and the final bill matched the quote to the penny.

We were nervous about a wet room on the first floor, but the tanking and drainage were explained clearly before anything started. It's completely watertight, the walk-in shower is lovely to use and the tiling is immaculate.

New ensuite in our loft conversion. Small space, but the design made it feel generous. Finished a day early with only two snags, both fixed the same week.

A big master bathroom with a freestanding bath, walk-in shower and stone throughout. The standard of finishing is superb — mitred corners, level floors, every silicone line crisp. Honest advice about where to spend and where not to, which we appreciated.

They first came out to sort a long-running leak and poor water pressure, then designed our tiny bathroom around wall-hung fittings, a walk-in shower and a big mirror. It genuinely feels like a different room, and it is reassuring having plumbers who know the house.
