The finished tiling is the part you see; the waterproofing and the drainage are the parts that decide whether it lasts. We start by preparing the substrate and forming the fall — a gradient built into the floor build-up itself, never faked with thicker adhesive under the tiles — running to either a linear channel drain along one wall or a centred point drain sized to the shower's flow rate.
Walls and floor are then fully tanked with a bonded membrane system, with reinforcing tape at every internal corner, upstands carried well above splash height and collars sealed around each pipe penetration. Only once that envelope is complete does tiling begin. Slip resistance is specified properly for the floor, glass screens are fixed into solid backing, and extraction is sized so the room actually clears.
A wet room is one project where the planning genuinely matters: the drain position, the direction of the fall, where the screen stops splashes reaching the door, whether the joists allow the drain body to sit where you'd like it.
